BIO

Mackenzie James has been shaping his life through performing arts with over two decades' experience. Mackenzie hopes to inspire others to create their own methods of escape and self-expression, to find more authentic connections with themselves and others.

Influenced by icons Bob Fosse, Busby Berkeley, and Jack Cole, Mackenzie applies a theatrical tone to his work. Specializing in the styles of jazz funk, contemporary, and hip-hop, his current inspirations include Sean Bankhead, Kyle Hanagami, Keone & Mari Madrid, Brian Friedman, Yanis Marshall, Sorah Yang, JaQuel Knight, Richard Jackson, and Parris Goebel. The style of Mackenzie James has been described as confident, vulnerable, sensual and emotional.

Mackenzie brings value to any creative team producing music videos, films, or live productions with his choreography, creative direction, and stage production skills. In his most recent live production, "I Am", Mackenzie developed additional talents including set design, lighting design, sound design, and costuming and make-up. He finds joy brining a vision to life, by participating in and orchestrating creative teams.

Throughout his life, Mackenzie has developed various lifestyles and personas in order to adapt to and connect with different communities. Creative projects allow him to express these influences and learn how each of these experiences continue to shape his true self, whom he loves to call as he was born, Mackenzie James Ellis.
